As the class of 2001 MBA students prepare to graduate and move on to their next great challenge, Baker Library is offering a way to keep their research here on campus- virtually, that is.
eBaker, an online collection of databases managed by the library, allows students to subscribe for immediate remote access to a wide variety of business information simply by visiting //hbswk.hbs.edu/ebaker/mba2001/ and submitting payment information. Account activation is immediate and customer support is included in the subscription. The cost for early subscribers is just $199 for the first year, compared to the $299 published annual rate.
eBaker was developed in response to a growing demand from students to have access to the library’s resources once they became alumni. Over time, exclusive partnerships have been formed with several of the world’s leading suppliers of business information, with the stipulation that the library may only offer accounts to HBS alumni. These databases include OneSource Global Business Browser, Hoover’s Online, ABI Inform via Proquest, the.siliconDeck (alumni version), and CareerSearch.
To complement eBaker’s data content, Baker Library also has registered the graduates to its information portal, HBS Working Knowledge, at //hbswk.hbs.edu. This free site offers access to the intellectual capital of HBS through interviews with faculty and industry leaders, coverage of campus speakers and events, book recommendations, and Web site reviews. In addition, the editorial staff provides condensed article summaries from multiple HBS publications including the Harvard Business Review and HBS Bulletin.
